The diet to tone up

The toning diet is not only suitable for those who want to lose weight, but also for those who want to keep their muscle structure taut and strong, which unfortunately tends to sag with age.

You need to focus on a good protein intake and consuming low-glycemic index foods: by following this diet, you can only lose fat while keeping your lean mass unchanged. Therefore, even if you lose weight, your muscles will remain firm and toned.

The first thing to remember is that you should eat small, frequent meals. Ideally, you should have 5 to 6 meals a day, dividing them into: breakfast, a mid-morning snack, lunch, an afternoon snack, dinner, and possibly small snacks before bed.

The diet to tone up requires a good protein intake, but only if it comes from lean sources such as white meat and fish.

Fresh, low-fat dairy products and beans are also good sources of protein. These foods should be used in rotation to make the diet as rich and varied as possible.

In all cases, protein intake should be correlated with the amount of physical activity performed: to maintain a toned muscle shape, people who train a lot need to consume more protein than those who train less.

Sugar and saturated fats are the real enemies of those who want to build good muscle: it's therefore essential to limit the consumption of various sweets as much as possible, and to favor monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats over saturated fats, as they are healthier and better suited to supporting muscle growth. These types of fats are found in extra virgin olive oil and nuts.

Regular consumption of dried fruit is a true panacea, as it is rich in essential fatty acids, which can promote growth and muscle tone. Therefore, it's important to eat them regularly, but not in excess, as they are high in calories.
